A fascinating man with an amazing gift, David Helfgott’s life has taken some of the most improbable turns imaginable, including having his extraordinary life inspire the Oscar winning film Shine.

Since the movie release, David has been in constant demand and his touring schedule has seen him play to sell out crowds in some of the most prestigious concerts halls in the world - and perform on every type of piano imaginable.

With decades of experience at the highest level, David Helfgott knows a good piano when he hears one - and for his own home, he has chosen a Petrof handcrafted grand piano.

Whilst most people spend their time at home unwinding and relaxing, David’s passion for music is unwavering. When at home, he plays the piano for hours and hours each and every day. "If I don't play for one day, I can see the difference. If I don't play for two days - the critics can see the difference. If I don't play for three days - the public can see the difference." David joked in a recent interview.

David's wife Gillian Helfgott added, “The piano is his best friend and he loves to share the experience. The fulfillment of performing is what keeps David motivated and having a beautiful Petrof grand piano at home inspires him.

"Petrof Australasia are thrilled to be able to support David Helfgott." said Michelle Conway, "The word 'virtuoso' is often overused when referring to concert pianists, however David Helfgott is very deserving of the term.”
