How do these systems work?

It is quite straightforward - a very simple device fitted in your instrument prevents any contact between individual strings and hammers, thus effectively eliminating all acoustic sounds. As you play, an electronic sensor console placed underneath the keyboard reads your strokes and sends digital information to the sound generator which then creates electronic sound of the selected instrument. The range of its register depends on the type of device and accessories used. It is entirely up to you whether you play just into your headphones or whether you decide to use loudspeakers and please the entire neighbourhood. All systems are MIDI-compatible, i.e. they can be connected to other MIDI devices, from tone generators to personal computers.
