WM KNABE & CO. PIANOS

The Knabe Piano story begins two hundred years ago in the village of Kreutzberg, Germany, with the birth of Wilhelm Knabe in 1803. After a formal education to prepare himself for a professional career, he decided to apprentice himself to a German maker of pianofortes and develop the art of piano-making.afer learning his new trade at various German piano makers he eventually migrated to the United states in1833. Eventually he launched out on his own in 1837 with his partner , Henry Gaehle .

In 1854 William bought out his partner and changed the name of the firm to Wm Knabe & Co. Milestones in Knabe pianos include Peter Ilych Tchaikovsky's concert on a Knabe piano officially opening Carnegie Hall. President Rutherford B.Haye's 'installation of a Knabe in the Whitehouse's official residence, and in 1879 the Knabe was the first piano purchased for Japanese classrooms.

The craftsmanship that makes the Knabe the World's Best Piano is not the acquisition of one generation, but a pedigree of skills that have run through more than three hundred years. Not merely by the masters of this great industry, but in the families of employees where sons have succeeded fathers at the head of some particular branch of the art, and who in great part have suggested improvements where possible.
